FROM THE ARTIST

The "La Grande Arche de la Défense" or The Great Arch of the Defense is a modern version of the Arc de Triomphe that symbolizes humanity rather than military. It forms the western end of the historic axis that runs from the Louvre Museum. The monument was designed by Danish architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen to be an exact cube with equal height and width of 110 meters.

Standing under the Grand Arch watching people walk by as they get on with their lives, one cannot help but see the world as a giant live canvas full of moments. When you look ahead, you can clearly see the Arc de Triomphe at the far end, perhaps even the Lourve on a clear day. Right in the middle, the commemorative plaque inscribed:

The Tesseract - "Idea, an open cube, a window to the world, a symbol of hope for the future, that all men can meet freely."
